The Hendry County Tax Collector’s Office has been recognized with the 2026 Excellence Award for Financial Operations, a prestigious honor recognizing Florida Tax Collectors who demonstrate high standards of excellence in financial management and organizational operations.
A five-member judging panel of government financial executives from across the State of Florida carefully reviewed the office’s financial practices and processes. The comprehensive review included areas such as budgeting, financial accountability, customer service, technology innovation, and operational improvements.
Tax Collector Amy Collins accepted the award during the 2026 Florida Tax Collectors Association Fall Education Forum.
“This award belongs to our entire team,” Collins said. “It represents the work our employees do every day to responsibly manage our resources, embrace innovation, improve the customer experience, and find better ways to serve our community.”
The recognition is particularly significant as the Hendry County Tax Collector’s Office continues an agency-wide modernization effort. Investments in technology, improved financial and operational processes, and a renewed emphasis on customer service have been central to the office’s efforts to build a more efficient and responsive organization.
The award criteria also recognize the importance of maintaining strong financial controls and a balanced budget while demonstrating measurable improvements in service and innovation.
“For me, excellence in financial operations is about more than numbers,” Collins said. “It is about accountability to the people we serve. We want our community to know that we are carefully managing our resources while continually looking for ways to provide better, more efficient service.”
